TRAINING COURSE FOR T.R.E.s CHECKING PILOTS OVER 60 YEARS OLD ENGAGED IN SINGLE-PILOT HEMS OPERATIONS

FLYRAD is pleased to announce the launch of training courses for Type Rating Examiners (T.R.E.s) who conduct checks on pilots over the age of 60 employed in Single-Pilot HEMS operations.

FLYRAD has designed the courses to include both a theoretical component, delivered in the classroom, and a practical part carried out in the simulator. In the theoretical segment, our Instructors train the T.R.E.s to recognize key factors associated with aging. These signs may appear well before the age of 60, which should be considered only as a regulatory reference point.

This is why it is extremely useful to train examiners even when the conditions outlined in AMC1 SPA.HEMS.130(g)(2) do not strictly apply. The ability to identify certain indicators that may be early signs of more serious issues helps ensure safer operations in a sector that is inherently high-risk. In some cases, it also offers the opportunity to suggest that the individual undergo more in-depth medical screenings, potentially detecting degenerative diseases early—diseases that, if caught in time, can be treated effectively, ensuring a high quality of life.
